What are Documentation Site Collections?
Groups of related articles belong in a single collection. For example, you are currently reading an article in the collections for the Documentation Site app. Other articles that belong in this collection would be topics like creating articles and modifying the settings of the documentation site.
Before you begin creating your Documentation Site, you may want to think about how you want your knowledge base to be organized.
You don't want to have too many collections, but you want to have enough to keep related topics organized.
How to create a Collection
To create a collection, first go to the Documentation Site you're modifying.
Once there, you can click on the New Collection button on the upper right hand side:
Once you click on the button, you will see a form that asks you for the name of your collection:
Once you've created your collection, you can customize it by adding a description and by uploading an icon that represents this collection.
How to edit a Collection
To edit a collection, click on the edit button in the list of collections view.
On the right hand side, you can edit the name of the collection, its description, as well as upload an icon for this collection.
You can also delete the collection by clicking on the red Delete collection link.
On the left hand side, you will see a list of articles that belong to this collection. There is a blue button that says New article, which if you click, will allow you to create a new article associated with this collection.
You can also add articles from other collections into this current one by searching it up in the Add an article to this collection input text field.
The order of the articles that's shown can also be modified by dragging using the three bar icon to the left within the list of articles.
Finally, you can remove articles from the current collection by clicking on the "X" on the right hand side.
Troubleshooting
After creating a collection, you may notice that it does not show on your site.
If this is the case, you will need to manually add the collection to your site's template block.
Head on over the Knowledge Base Design tab, and select your Collection Grid. There, you can select your new collection.
Click Save and it should show.
